4th of July Smoked Porter Pulled Pork

Here is a tasty recipe for your 4th of July celebration, featuring our Smoked Porter. If you have a favorite recipe that uses Epic beer, send it in so we can share it.


Smoked Porter Pulled Pork

4 – 4 1/2 pound boneless pork butt
22 oz. Epic Brewing Smoked Porter

1 large onion, sliced
8-10 cloves garlic, smashed or minced
(optional) Habanero Chiles

2 tbs salt
1 tbs chili powder
1 tbs paprika

2 tbs vegetable oil
1 tbs apple cider vinegar

Coat pork with 1 tbs oil and spices, allow to rest.
Heat remaining 1 tbs oil and brown butt on all sides, about 15 minutes. Remove and rest.
Reduce heat and add onion, garlic, and optionally peppers. Brown about 15 minutes

Combined vegetables, pork and beer in crockpot or Dutch oven.
Cook about 3 hours at 300 F. or until pork is tender and falls apart.

Strain liquid, reserve, and shred pork with vegetables.
Separate fat from reserved liquid by cooling and skimming.
Add remaining liquid and apple cider vinegar back to pork until moist but not runny.

Serve on bun with BBQ sauce, spicy pickles, and a side of coleslaw.
