Subject: Epic Brewing re-zoning proposal

Dear Commissioners,

I am writing to you today in support of the Epic Brewing’s re-zoning proposal that will be brought in front of the Planning Commission on Wednesday, October 10th

The current proposal made by Epic Brewing is a well-planned compromise that preserves the existing neighborhood on Edison Street while serving the interests of Epic Brewing and the citizens of the city at large.  It enables Epic to make a much needed expansion on State Street thereby providing additional jobs, tax basis and general economic support to the community.

Furthermore, Epic Brewing is a responsible, Utah-based/owned company,  is environmentally friendly, a tourist destination and supports numerous local non-profits, such as Head Start, Cross Roads Urban Center, the Boys and Girls Club, Huntsman Cancer Institute, and the Hogle Zoo to name just a few.  Businesses like Epic Brewing should be encouraged in our city.

Finally, it is my understanding that rejecting this compromise may force Epic to re-evaluate its development options which could result in a less favorable outcome for the neighborhood or worst yet cost Utahan’s local living wage jobs.

Please approve Epic’s re-zoning proposal and further encourage this prosperous, responsible company to continue growing and supporting the local community.
