Brown Rice Ale Release #5

Brewed May 13, 2012. Packaged May 22, 2012.

In this first Brown Rice Ale of 2012, we ramped up the temperature in the fermenter to bring out the fruity esters of the kolsch yeast. This produced complex ale characteristics of caramel and warm dark fruits to go along with the unique flavor of the organic brown rice. An experiment of sorts, be sure to store one bottle to try alongside release #6, which will be fermented colder to bring out the familiar crisp lager and brown rice nuttiness normally associated with Brown Rice Ale.

Malts

Ultra Premium Maris Otter Malt, Briess 6-Row Malt, Organic Brown Rice, Caramel Malt, Briess 2-Row Carapils, Briess Aromatic Malt, Weyermann Acidulated Malt 

Hops

Mt. Hood, Saaz, Willamette

5.7% ABV
