Brewed on March 16, 2012. Packaged on April 7, 2012.
This Spring 2012 release of Hopulent brings out the citrusy, grapefruit character of the Simcoe hop with an abv right around 8% that keeps the body complex, but makes for a more refreshing IPA. On the nose you will find grapefruit rind with a little bit of pine from the hopback, but the first sip is just like cracking open a ruby red grapefruit.
The Malt
Premium Briess Two Row with a nearly equal amount of Ultra Premium Maris Otter as the base malts. Weyermann Munic malt Type 1 and Briess Caramel malt 20L finish off the bill nicely.
The Hops
In the Boil:· CTZ, Chinook and Centennial for bittering and flavor, 2 additions of Simcoe for aroma
The Dry Hops: Centennial and Chinook
Hopback: Whole leaf Chinook and Centennial
ABV 8.2%.
